Our very own Filipino painter/sculptor Manuel "Nolet" Vega Soliven II is exhibiting his works from 24 to 28 June 2011, 10AM – 6PM at the ART FORUM, 82 Cairnhill Rd, Singapore 229684.

For Nolet, becoming a visual artist was the answer to self discovery and self expression. His first step was acquiring the skills and vocabulary in painting, which culminated in a degree from the University of the Philippines, College of Fine Arts, in 1998. There, he learned the basics and the foundation to ready and brave the Philippine Art scene as an exhibiting artist, and eventually becoming faculty at the University of the Philippines, Baguio in Visual Arts and Humanities for 3 years. In 2003-2005, Nolet left his teaching post for a study grant at the Academia di Belle Arti, Florence, Italy. One can only imagine how much this has influenced and has enriched his person as an artist.

On June 26, the artist is conducting an afternoon workshop at the venue. Admission is free.
