Police have arrested a 61-year-old male suspect for committing theft at a construction site along Dover Road, through the aid of CCTV cameras installed at the construction site and a mobile phone tracking application installed on a mobile phone.
On 28 May 2011 at about 9.30 pm, police received a report of theft at the said construction site. Six mobile phones and a laptop computer amounting to a total of about $4,000/- were reported stolen. Officers investigating the case managed to obtain images of the suspect from CCTV cameras installed at the site. A tracking application, installed on one of the mobile phones reported stolen, also indicated that the phone was located in the vicinity of Changi Village.
Armed with this information, officers conducted extensive ground enquiries at the Changi Village area and its vicinity. On 8 June 2011 at about 12.45 pm, officers managed to locate the suspect along Changi Coastal Road and placed him under arrest.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 10 June 2011 for Theft, under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of three years’ imprisonment, or fine, or both.
